Recruited fashion brands, retailers, reprocessors and bed manufacturers to collect old cottons, divert from landfill and repurpose into products such as roll mats for donation to combat sleep poverty.

We will deliver a new ‘data sandbox’ for the UK fashion and textiles sector which will serve as a platform for data sharing, analysis, and innovation, allowing stakeholders to explore and experiment with circular economy principles across the supply chains. By leveraging data and insights, the industry can identify opportunities for improvement, track progress, and make informed decisions to drive sustainable practices.

UKFT

Depop

Analysed data from 5,500 Depop users across the UK, US, and Australia and we co-authored the report, "The power of secondhand: How Resale Slows Consumption," sheds light on the positive environmental impact of buying second hand. It provides evidence that Depop is effective in slowing down the consumption of new fashion items.

Adidas

adidas wanted to understand and develop the potential for circular business models. We accelerated their knowledge of business models, internal and external factors to consider for different models and levers to test, helping them launch the trial of Infinite Play in late 2019 in the UK.

Asos

FW

FW is a new skiwear brand with impressive sustainability credentials. They developed a repair business model that’s now saving them 60% on warranty return costs too. We guided them through their circular business options and helped to find the right circular option that matched their strategy and capacity. FARFETCH

FARFETCH is a luxury fashion platform that has successfully implemented recommerce and trade-in offers on major fashion products. We helped them to assess options and choose the best ones to get going with. They also wanted to understand the environmental impacts of reusing clothes - we delivered groundbreaking research to understand the “displacement effect” on purchasing behaviour in global markets. Laudes Foundation

Four major circular fashion business model projects completed. Three of these are now scaled globally: adidas, FARFETCH and FW. Laudes Foundation funded a change programme to “bridge the implementation gap” in fashion and textiles circular economy. We partnered with ReLondon to deliver four groundbreaking projects starting in London.

London Gatwick

A new uniform management and reuse system has been set up and includes a repair/refresh service.

We reviewed uniform procurement, distribution and disposal. From this we estimated the carbon and water footprint of the uniforms and recommended actions to reduce impacts and make cost savings.

WRAP

WRAP has paved the way for environmental impact reduction in the textiles and electronics sector with their clear evidence base for change and their industry voluntary agreements.

Over the years (and including our career time spent at WRAP) we have provided our expertise and sector knowledge to deliver interim programme management, technical advice, stakeholder management, research and circular business models pathways.

Cos

COS wanted to understand the durability of their merino wool jumpers; With the University of Leeds we carried out wash care tests on the jumpers to ensure washing instructions were correct and to understand performance at different temperatures and over different durations. wrap.org.uk

Naturalmat

Rethinking their product offer led Natralmat to introduce a free mattress take-back service; a closed-loop leasing model for hotels; an up-cycling and replacement customer offer; and a B2B refresh service We provided ideas, market research and proposition development to develop their thinking, and commercial customer orientated circular offers that now lead the market in reducing the amount of mattress waste throughout its life. Ted Baker

Ted Baker wanted to explore and understand their circular business model options. We've provided expert insights and clear direction on opportunities. Ted Baker wanted to understand why certain products failed - we reviewed their critical paths for design development up to production and refined their quality management process.

The business models work was part of our Circular Fashion Fast Forward project delivered in partnership with London and supported by the Laudes Foundation.

Ikea

Ikea ran a textiles takeback trial in their Cardiff store, which through working with the IKEA team, we helped them to develop this proposition and business case and wider circular thinking and circular roadmap - paving the way for IKEA’s future circular initiatives.

Argos

Argos launched their gadget trade-in scheme which we supported through the development of the business case and financial model. This was the first major player to go mainstream on mobile trade-in on the UK high street, and drove rapid change in the UK market.

Globechain

Rocio developed a unique high value designer handbag trade-in service model that was rolled out globally.

We partnered with ZWS and Resource Futures to develop four trade-in and service commercial offers for Rocio.

Sofa 4 Life

Sofa4Life developed the UK’s first multi-award winning circular sofa, that was modular for upgrades, designed to be remanufactured and sold as a service or trade/in product.

We were instrumental in the proposition, market research and operational development that led to the first pilot.

Landsec

Landsec developed a strategy on circular economy and waste management to be at the forefront of its sector.

We helped to deliver a CE and waste reduction action plan, delivering sites visits/audits and holding best practice workshops with the Landsec team.

Heathrow Expansion

We developed training resources, and workshop content including presentations, hand-outs, presenter guides and action plans. We identified champions in each workstream, set out a role by role responsibility matrix and developed a communications strategy for engagement and implementation.

London Gatwick

Enabled London Gatwick to redefine its waste goal to ‘by 2030 all materials used are repurposed for beneficial reuse.’ We analysed all the waste data and processes with site visits and stakeholder interviews. We built a roadmap of activities across all materials to drive beneficial reuse including repair, reuse, donation and recycling.

StorTera

Cut edge technology firm Stortera developed a unique liquid flow battery solution that was 99% reusable & remanufacturable to be delivered as a Sales as a Service model. QSA worked on the circular business model with partners iPower to deliver a commercial sustainable proposition to market

Sky

Sky wanted to understand the business case for mobile tech trade-in business models, to quickly catch up on the growing market we kickstarted with Argos. We developed the target segments and business case for their customers.

Mujo

Mujo increased customer acquisition and a tenfold reduction in manufactured material volume by moving from a sales model to a service and Pay-As-You-Go model in their target markets.

We provided expert help and service thinking and to develop the business and rigorous financial case for this shift from off-shore manufacture, to high value service led provision with increased on-shore manufacturing and circular capabilities

Samsung

Samsung wanted to create circular business models that gave exceptional customer service and experience. Following our ideas workshop, we helped them to create an “upgrade” business model for those customers that always want the latest tech - meaning Samsung could recover its own products and keep them in play for longer. We also helped to develop their mobile repair service - meaning that customers can get mobile phone repairs quickly without having to travel to major city centres or Samsung stores. Following the development of these offers, and Samsung’s growing relationship with their supply partners, Samsung now also offers a smartphone trade-in service. Oxfam

Oxfam revitalised their smartphone donation programme with our help - accessing substantial new value to fund their mission. We helped Oxfam reassess the business case for smartphone donation, and understand the reuse & recycling landscape to maximise the value they recovered. Crown Workspace

Crown Workspace* created a new IT reuse and resale capability from scratch, based on our advice on IT Asset Management values and the ready market in skills and second-hand sales. A useful service addition to their class-leading office management and relocation services, IT reuse at Crown has gone from strength to strength since it was introduced in 2016 This project was delivered with the support of WRAP and the EU LIFE Project. London Gatwick

Bandvulc

Bandvulc developed an industry leading tyre as a service model gaining 70% market share in supermarket haulage. They also developed VanVulc a specific retread circular tyres service for delivery van fleet. QSA worked with Bandvulc over a number of years to develop their service model, research the markets and rigorously develop the commercial model. riversimple

riversimple designs and manufactures hydrogen fuel cell electric cars in Wales that it will provide through an innovative mobility as a service contract. Customers pay each month for mobility service, Riversimple will maintain the vehicle and pay for fuel. Through Innovate UK funding, LIFE REbus funding and directly, we have provided our expertise over a number of years, helping develop a financial model for investment and also a unique set of service/circular economy propositions for customers. OPRL

Enabled the OPRL team to plan and deliver four projects simultaneously by running a series of workshops plotting out the desired outcomes, outputs, milestones, deadlines and co-dependencies. We tracked progress weekly and provided status updates.

Zero Waste Scotland

We have provided expert insight and guidance on a range of circular projects for Zero Waste Scotland - including work with Rocio, Sofa4Life, StorTera and Instant Neighbour.

REBus

The WRAP REBus project enabled more than 20 large and small companies to transition from linear to circular business models including lease; trade-in; repair; reuse; and remanufacturing. As the lead consultant, we took the companies through the process which included Argos,B&Q/Kingfisher, DHL, IKEA, Panasonic, Samsung, Sky, Po-Zu, Globechain, Tala LED, Rentez-Vous and Premier Workplace. www.rebus.eu.com

Toilet Board Coalition

The Toilet Board Coalition published the Circular Sanitation Economy report to help demonstrate the key elements and commercial viability of the new business models to accelerate and scale the delivery of sanitation to those in need. We developed the circular business cases and financial models for the report, showing that circular sanitation options were far more attractive for investment than “conventional” sanitation infrastructure options.
